I originally went to college to become a 6th grade history teacher. I always enjoyed children and really wanted to opportunity to make a difference in children’s lives. I was in my last semester when I received a phone call from my mother, she said that I needed to come home right away as my father had been in an accident and that they were not sure if he was going to make it. I got to the airport as soon as I could and caught the first plane out to go back home. By the time I got the hospital my father was taking his last few breathes. I was so shocked I didn’t really have much emotion all I kept thinking about was how could this be my dad is suppose to be invincible. He was extremely fit and was a master at Wing Chun Dummy how could this be happening?
My father held on for a few more hours until he finally passed away. It was the hardest thing I had ever dealt with in my life. My mother was a mess for the next few weeks so I decided that I would take a break from school to be with her until she got back to a ‘normal’ whatever that is, she had been with my father since they were 13 years old so, it was extremely hard for her to cope. The accident report came back from the police station stating that the other driver was at fault so; I took care of calling the car insurancecompany to let them know that they needed to pay for my father’s medical bills etc from accident; luckily he had auto insurance los angeles California. they ended up covering approximately 70% of the bills however, that still left $180,000 in medical bills that my mother did not have to pay so I began looking for work to help her out. My best friend’s mother Isabel De Los Rios was a talent agent and said that she would be on the lookout for anything that came up that would be a good fit. It took about a month before she called me to try out for this commercial selling a 31 Day Fat Loss Cure, Vic Magary. I got the part; it was really simple it was really just promoting the product and showing my abs plus, it paid $2,000 a day and took 3 days to shoot. It was enough to keep the creditors of my mother’s back for a little while at least. A few months went by and my mother told me it was time to go back to school to finish my degree, I was a little hesitant but, I could tell that she was starting to find her sense of norm. I graduated in 2011 and found a teaching job right away and am starting to get my normal back too. I recently got engaged to a wonderful girl who has her own business energy company and loves my mother to death. We bought a house nearby my mother’s so that she would feel needed and feel like her life makes sense again and we are all doing great. I miss my father deeply and I sincerely hope that he is proud of me and what I have become.
